Woah, it’s the middle of February already! How’s everyone’s new year’s resolutions coming along? Much like the rest of America, I decided enough was enough and it was time to get back into my fitness routine. A little history here, I tend to get obsessed with certain workouts and will do them religiously until I stop feeling challenged or I get too comfortable. My obsessions have ranged everywhere from bootcamp, to spinning, and pure barre. Pure barre will always be my favorite but since the studio is pretty far from my apartment, I’ve been hitting the good old fashioned gym as my go-to workout.

There are a couple of tricks that have kept me motivated this past month…

1) Joining MyFitnessPal – great app to track your progress and helps you make better decisions when it comes to nutrition. It’s even better when you have friends that use it too. When you see a friend has completed a spinning class before 10AM on a Saturday…it really makes you think twice about that egg McMuffin.
2) Heading to the gym straight from work. If I stop at home there is a good chance that I’m not going out again, especially with the cold weather. Thankfully my trusted gym bag makes this easy for me.
3) Finally, rewarding myself. I’ve been consistently working out for a month now. It’s time to reward myself with some new gear.

These pieces are currently on my radar…

Notice, there is no Lululemon apparel in that set. I’m trying to diversify and explore some other brands. I’d love to hear your favorite workout gear brands! Also, what keeps you motivated?

  1. I always buy from Target. Their prices are cheap and I love all the color variations of tops and sports bras. I’m trying to stay motivated but between school and work and the cold weather, it’s hard to have a solid routine.

    • Oh my gosh I know! Although I feel super guilty when the weekend comes around…but it definitely helps get my butt out of bed and off to the gym if I’m expecting to go out at night. I’ve also heard great things about the Jillian Michaels DVDs, I might need to try them!

  2. Love the gym bag!! I’m a huge fan of using my FitBit…it helps me ensure i’m really active all day even if I sit at my desk from 9-5! I love going to Marshalls and TJMaxx to find some great gym gear…they have great brands for a fraction of the price!

  3. I actually like my GapFit leggings better than my Lululemon ones. Actually all of Gap’s workout clothes are awesome! I’ve also heard great things about the Zella brand at Nordstrom.

  4. i love myfitnesspal! it helped me to lose weight 2 years ago and i still use it to keep the weight off. i also go to the gym straight from work so i have no opportunity to get lazy at home 🙂

    • Yeah…it’s sad but I agree, I haven’t loved anything lately that has been worth the $$. You helped to introduce me to a view of these brands via your blog posts ;).

Luckily, my barre studio carries Karma as well.
